Review: Lightspeed Tents
We were very impressed with the philosophy, "At Lightspeed® we design tents that are amazingly quick to set up without sacrificing strength and quality. We rely on over a thousand nights sleeping in tents of all shapes and sizes, in all weather conditions, when designing our tents."
We can't tell you how many times we have had to set up a tent in the rain and at that point, all the fun goes out of tenting. We tested the Maser 2 and set it up within a few seconds! Because the Maser is rigged beneath the pole structure there is no separate rainfly to attach the inside of the tent so it does not get wet.
This is not one of those "kiddie play tents" masquerading as a backpacking tent. Due to the strength of the Lightspeed pole system, they were able to suspend the tent body inside the rainfly which allows it to be completely detached. This feature allows the tent to be removed, leaving just the rainfly – perfect for a "light and fast" trip or as a sun shelter at the beach! To make it even more versitle, we used our hiking poles to stake out the front rainfly for a great canopy.
The Master 3 person is 87" wind and long, 51" high and only 10 lbs. It only has one pole which is like a big umbrella! This makes it just as easy to take down as put up. The tent and fly material is breathable polyester and mesh and the floor is waterproof bathtub style to keep the tent dry. There are tie downs on all four sides for inclement weather. The stakes and bag are all included.
