Review: Industrial Revolution Camping Accessories
Industrial Revolution has been manufacturing camping gear in Redmond, WA since 1973. They started by building ski boot buckles, and had their first hit product with their Original Candle Lantern. Beginning in 2005, they became the US distributor for Light My Fire of Sweden. In 2008, we purchased long-time partner Pedco, maker of UltraPod camera tripods. Their goal is to continue producing great outdoor accessories and somehow think up the next must have tool (and the one after that.)
It is easy to see why we loved their products because they are outdoor enthusiasts who love hiking, camping, biking, boating – anything that gets them out of the factory for a little while. Their team has a broad range of interests, which helps in developing new products. Most of the crucial outdoor accessories have been around for decades, and the proven products are very hard to improve upon. For them, building a better match case or shrinking a lantern is a challenging and satisfying process.
They are privately held, and their main responsibilities are building quality products for customers, providing reliable service for dealers, and taking care of their employees. They even recognize that not every decision is driven by the bottom line, something we support wholeheartedly.
Stormproof Matches and Container
This product is typical of going the extra mile. They weren't satisfied with just waterproof matches. UCO Stormproof Match Kit is a waterproof container that includes 25 matches and 3 strikers.
The container features an integrated striker on the outside to provide an easy location for lighting matches and can hold up to 40 matches. The ribbed container is easy to grip with cold hands. What a great lantern that offers a lot of light in a small package. It provides 26 lumens of light with a long-lasting LED bulb. The torch position focuses the beam of light, while the lantern position allows the light to spread for enclosed situations. It is perfect for outdoors and camping. We found you can use it as your primary source of light or to keep packed in case of emergency. We keep it in our car.
Water-resistant and durable, aluminum construction, yet a simple pull switches between lantern and flashlight function. It has a built-in hook and includes a carabiner and carrying strap. With just three 1.5V AAA alkaline batteries, you can get 22+ hours. Although it is only 4" high and 1.23" diameter and weighs 3.8 oz, it packs a powerful light!
