Review: DAJO Adventure Gear

Fifty Sense Seal of Approval

The DAJO Adventure Gear mission is simple: to offer great products, provide great service, and have great prices. We tested their lumbar pack and monocle.

Survival Knife

When we are outdoors, we like the knowing that if we get into an emergency, we are prepared. The Survivor was designed to be a fairly compact minimalist survival knife and it’s the real deal. This is great to have in activities or even just in the car glove compartment. DAJO knows how to invent products that give maximum performance with minimum weight at a great price.

The knife is a solid full tang design with a G-10 handle ready to take plenty of abuse. The notch in the back of the blade is designed to act as a striker for the included Swedish FireSteel®. The sheath can be mounted vertically or horizontally and holds the Swedish FireSteel®, emergency whistle, and five feet of cord. It can even be fashioned into a spear with the included cord.

Basecamp Knife

Our tester loved taking this knife backpacking. It is designed with durable yet more affordable materials, it's an amazing bang for your buck. It has a smooth liner lock mechanism for easy one-handed opening and closing. It also has our precision tweezers inserted into the back of the handle. It is lightweight, yet has a full size blade that is partially serrated. The handle is made of Anodized aluminum. It is only 3.75″ closed.

Comet Headlight

The design Objective was to make a headlamp as small and lightweight as possible while still using a common battery size (AAA). They accomplished their goal! It is extremely compact and lightweight, has a nice even illumination without a bright spot in the middle. One AAA battery is said to run 4 hours, but it seemed we got much more than that out of it. What a relief to finally have a headlight that uses regular batteries!

Lumbar Packs

All of the lumbar packs are specifically designed to contour to the lumbar region for excellent stability. They include aluminum water bottles for hydration and numerous pockets to keep gear organized. They are extremely comfortable and lightweight.

Monocular

They also offer a monocle that features seven times magnification and a very wide field of view. They are extremely compact and lightweight, and are excellent for watching wildlife. Carrying case included.
